No One Wants A Lemon, How To Buy Used Cars

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

Used cars can be a cost effective buy, but there are many traps which need to be avoided. When buying a used car, we often hear the word lemon. This refers to a car which is advertised as brilliant, but turns out to be a waste of money. Most car sales yards sell new and second hand cars. The second hand range may be imported from Japan if for example, the car is a Honda, or from Germany if it is a BMW, or other countries. These could also be bought from individual owners, or have been obtained through a trade in from someone buying a newer model.

The second hand ones are sometimes imported, from Europe i. E. In the case of BMWs or Japan in the case of Hondas.

Owners can sell their cars to retailers, and people can trade in their old vehicle when they buy a new one. Whether you are buying a new or pre owned car, you will have the same finance options.

You do not how what the previous owner has driven the car, and it can be hard to see what sort of modifications they have performed. It is a good idea to pay a little extra to have the car independently inspected by a mechanic. They will be able to tell you what sort of damage has been done, how long the vehicle is likely to last and what kind of repairs will need to be done.

By obtaining this professional opinion, you will know what you are paying for, and have more leverage for bargaining with a sales person. There is no one type of car which is the best to buy, but Japanese brands tend to be very reliable, and cheap to fix when they do have problems. Honda for example makes a wide range of vehicles, and they are sold in so many countries that finding parts is never a problem.

The fact that so many people drive them would suggest that they run well. Insurance and warranties are so important, and they can be factored into finance plans. The insurance protects you when you are on the road with other drivers, and the warranty is basically a promise that the car will work for a certain period of time without trouble.

If it does need repairs, they will be free.To lower the cost of a pre driven vehicle, pay by cash. Without finance payments and loans you will not be paying interest, which can add up to thousands over a few years.

The best way of decreasing the price of a used vehicle, is to pay with cash. This saves on the interest of loan repayments, and is preferred by sales people. They get all the money immediately, and there are less administration costs for them to pay than there would be with credit cards and finance. It is not hard to buy used cars, but buyers must be wary of lemons and loan sharks.

The Issue Of Used Honda Car Vs A New Honda Car

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

There are both advantages and disadvantages to owning both new and older cars. Anyone who owns new cars may have their own theory about what is better. Older car fans will drive their cars into the ground and be proud of it. When there is a discussion on A Used Honda Car vs a New Honda Car, the verdict will always be the same, the facts are split down the middle.

There are used cars that have been known to last for many years. Honda is on the list, as well as Toyota and Volkswagen. These cars reward their owners by lasting a long time with many kilometers building up over the years. The longevity of the cars, allows owners to focus on other expenses and not have to worry about buying a new vehicle.

New model cars can be great, for anyone who loves the look and smell of newer models. When a new Honda is bought, it will feature new technology and newer features. The warranty on the car will be valid and aside from regular maintenance and oil changes, the car shouldn’t need too many repairs.

While a new vehicle will have more assurance than a used one, it could still have issues. Some people get stuck with the odd car with a flaw. This flaw may be known to the make and model, but wont be any reassuring to the customer. The fee could be paid for by the warranty or through the customer.

New vehicles will offer more standard safety features. These cars will have side airbags and rear and front. The safety measures will surpass that of the older car. People can enjoy the idea that their car may have more safe features in it, to keep everyone safe While used cars are still considered safe, newer technology will be present in the most recent brands and models.

When an older car is paid off and used, it can be less of a burden on the finances. With so many bills and monthly expenses that people tend to have, not having to pay out on the car loan or lease, can help the family budget. Some people think of a car expense as unnecessary, especially when cars can be paid off and not an issue.

The price of a new car vs an older one will differ. Anyone who is looking to spend less on their car, will save money on a used model. The price difference will be different, and used cars can still be financed by a bank or other lender if need be. New cars will be more expensive, but may come with special deals and promotions.

When Used Honda Car vs a New Honda car becomes a topic of discussion, many people will defend what they drive. New owners love their cars and used owners prefer their type. Weighing the pros and cons, allows drivers to decide on the type and year of car that they best prefer. These styles of cars can be found at most car dealers. Customers can check out both the new section as well as the used area.

Why Install An Auto Navigation System?

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Maps are essentially defective. By the time the surveyors have finished and the data that they have collected has been mapped out and the printers have published the map and sent it to the distributors and they have sold it to the shops and you have made up your mind to buy one, it is out of date. Sometimes years out of date

Another difficulty is that it is impossible to read a map and drive carefully at the same time. You cannot read a map and look out of the windshield at the same time. So, you either need a co-pilot who can read a map, or you have to stop repeatedly and memorize a small part of the map. That is all right, people did it that way for a hundred years or more, but now there is a better way.

GPS satellite navigation systems have been around for a long time. At first they were only utilized by aircraft and ocean liners. As the price fell, yachting people could afford them; later still long distance lorries had them, then very expensive cars and now practically all cars.

In spite of the odd story of someone driving into a river in the dark, because the driver trusted the sat nav and the sat nav did not know that the bridge had been removed, the auto navigation system has been a resounding success.

I am certain that family Sunday outings are far more pleasurable now that the spouse does not have to do the map-reading; lone travellers do not have to stop to get their bearings and lone female drivers are safer because they do not have to stop to ask their way.

Being lost at night or having broken down in the countryside or even taking a wrong turn into a rough district of town is frightening. Even if you have your mobile phone to call the breakdown service, you have to know where you are and if you are in a violent area of town by mistake, you do not want to stop to ask the way and you certainly do not want to go further off the beaten track.

Then there are the detours that we want or have to make because of natural catastrophes, break-downs, traffic jams and roadworks teams. Often you will get advanced warning on the local radio of trouble spots up ahead, but if you do not know the area, there is not much you can do about it. Unless you have an auto navigation system.

I know many people who do not use their auto navigation system every time they get into their car and that is how it should be for those people, but it is like insurance, it is nice to have it when you require it.

No-one needs an auto navigation system to go to the neighbourhood shop, but it is really nice to take the scenic route the next time you go out of town to visit a relative. Perhaps you always take the same route when you visit your Aunty Lil, but with an auto navigation system you can vary your journey to pass local attractions.

You Want To Know Why It Is Better To Buy A Used Car Vs A New Car

Friday, October 8th, 2010

New cars and used cars are not the same. This an undeniable truth. There are differences in buying a used car vs a new car. It is true that used cars have been through more than a new car has. It decades ago used cars seemed to be cars that you had to settle for. They were cars that got you to one point and back again without any frills at all. So, since you are in the market for a car, you want to know why it is better to buy a used car vs a new car.

This is not true anymore. Many people in America prefer to buy a used car if they can find the right one. Well, you and anyone else can find a true quality used car for whatever you want to use it for. You can get sedans, pickup trucks, small cars and large ones. And buying a used car will be a great experience if you have never done it before. Mostly, people who buy used cars get them because they know they can get a great deal on them.

Price is a huge factor in buying a used car. Of course, whenever you decide to buy a car, the price is going to be the biggest factor. Will you be able to afford it without too much strain on the bank account or not is the question you will face. Used cars are typically thousands of dollars less than new cars. If your budget does not allow for a new car, then used is the way to go for you.

Now, used cars get treated very well by dealers. Dealers know that when a used car comes in, they can fix it up and inspect it to make sure they get the most money for their deal. Used car dealers have certification programs that show you that the car you are looking at has not only been inspected, it has been tuned up and repaired, if needed.

Later model cars are what you will find on the car lot these days. These cars are not bad cars by any stretch of the imagination. They are very good cars that have had a previous owner. Cars built today are so much better put together than they used to be. There is no comparison from a used car from 2009 and one from 1999. The differences are just so huge.

A new car, when driven off the lot for the very first time will depreciate in value. The depreciation will be huge. A used car, when driven off the lot, will not depreciate like a new one. It will keep it’s value better.

A used car obviously won’t be perfect like a new car will be, but, they are still very good looking and run excellent on the average. They will give you many years of confident service if treated well, like every car would be. Overall, the quality of the used vehicles that show up on the lot now are so much better than they used to be.

Used cars versus new ones. That is a debate that will continue for years. Used cars are very reliable, and most of all, they are much cheaper than new ones. Many drive as if they were new. Their quality is getting better and better. This is why it is better to buy a used car vs a new one.

A Few Tips On How To Shop For Used Cars

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

If you are out looking for a vehicle and you want to find yourself a bargain then used cars might be the way to go. However, when you are shopping for a used vehicle it is certainly important for you to exercise a level of caution so that you find something decent and in working order. There are plenty of things you can do in order to make sure you don’t get stung, so consider these basic tips when you are out shopping for a used vehicle.

Of course, the first thing you will always have to do is work out the specific sort of vehicle you want to purchase. This will save you time and hassle floating around looking for sorts of different vehicles. Work out the sort of model you want to buy, the amount you want to spend, your mileage range, and any other specific details that are important to you.

Once you actually know the sort of vehicle that you are searching for you can then start to gather quotes from a number of different sources. When doing this you need to make sure you aren’t too hasty and that you don’t accept the first decent car you come across. Comparing a number of different options is the best way of finding something suitable for you.

One of the best places to start looking for quotes will be in car dealerships. Remember that the people working on these dealerships will be salespeople and therefore you need to be wary of their sales technique. Do not let this hide the true nature of any vehicle you are looking to purchase and always have a critical eye on their tactics.

Classified ads will be another excellent source of information when looking for suitable quotes. You can find classified adverts in local papers and also online. Spend some time browsing around these various areas then you should come up with vehicles that are both in dealerships and also being sold directly from people in the public as well.

You should also spend time shopping around online at regular online car websites. There are many reputable sites that you could choose from and these will allow you to find vehicles that are close by to your local area. They will include all of the information about the car and will give contact details to the seller. As such, you can simply get in touch and arrange a test drive and viewing.

When you get a quote it is always important for you to make sure you check on the maintenance records of the vehicle. A car that hasn’t been properly maintained should probably be avoided and therefore this information always needs to be gathered so that you know the vehicle you purchase will run properly.

Once you have gathered some quotes and checked the maintenance record of these vehicle you should then take each one out for a test drive. This will give you a feel for what it will be like driving the actual vehicle. Once you have done this with a few different options simply compare them and make your choice.

Don’t Know The Local Language To Help You Reach A Destination?

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Are you a frequent traveler who loves to drive on your own? Are you game for exploring new areas of your city / town on your own? Then, you need a companion who can guide you on your way and help you reach the destination in safe and timely manner. Even if you are lost and do not know which way you have to go, this companion can put you back on the right track and prove to be a true friend. Hmm… curious to know who is this true companion? No… No… I am not talking about a human or a guide dog. It is a technological marvel, a device that uses GPS (Global Positioning System) to receive a signal and tell you your exact position on a map. The device is called as a GPS receiver.

Many times you get confused with the way the streets are numbered and one-way roads and can get lost the companion can help you and put you on the correct path. Curious to know who this companion is? It is not a guide dog or a human. It is a cutting-edge device known as the Global Positioning System Receiver or a GPS receiver. Your exact position on a street can be known using this smart device.

There are several uses of GPS ranging from civilian to military purposes. As described before, it can be used in a GPS receiver for navigation of roads or as a guide to a missile for precise striking of enemy positions. corba gps units are one of the famous brands of GPS units in the world. There is a misconception that these units are very slow. But, in fact, the satellite connection from the GPS unit to the server determines the connection speed. If the satellite system is not good, then, you will see delay in responses for your requests from the GPS unit.

Let me tell you about one of the interesting applications of a GPS system that I have come across. It is really fascinating and is a great invention. Imagine if your call is stolen and the car sends an SMS to you with the GPS coordinates of the location, where the car is currently present.

Would that not be great? You can inform the police and put the thieves behind bars. You are getting your doubts about how a car can send an SMS to you. Yes, it can with the help of an embedded SIM card and a GPS receiver (for location coordinates). Once you have the GPS coordinates, you can go to Google maps and pin-point the exact location of the car by providing the co-ordinates. Marvelous, isn’t it? This is just one of the many applications of GPS for civilian use.

Help For Persons Buying Used Cars

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

One of the best ways to save money when purchasing a vehicle is to shop for used cars rather than for new ones. Often a low mileage used vehicle can save you a lot of money but still allow you to drive a dependable and great looking vehicle. There are a few tips you should know when you are shopping the used market.

Sometimes you will find a better deal if you purchase from an individual rather than a dealer. The dealer has to pay enough to satisfy a seller to get the vehicle and then sell it at a high enough margin to make a profit. Individuals are often willing to split the difference, so that they get more than they would for a trade in but less than a dealer would charge. However you do give up some of the buyer protection laws when purchasing from an individual.

There are some vehicle brands that tend to be more durable than others. Used Hondas are often some of the best deals available. With an easy lifespan of three hundred thousand miles, these vehicles are dependable for a long time if well maintained. Other vehicles may start to have major mechanical problems well before reaching the one hundred thousand mile mark.

You would be wise to have a trusted mechanic take a quick look at any vehicle before you make a purchase. Plan to pay for this service, but know that the fee is much less than the cost of major repairs of which you are not aware. Try to make an appointment ahead of time with the mechanic so that he can devote some time to inspecting the vehicle.

If you have good credit, newer vehicles often qualify for bank financing. Talk with your banker and secure financing before you buy to save money on finance charges. The bank may offer a loyal customer a car loan that is several interest points lower than you would find at the dealer.

If you have a certain vehicle in mind before shopping take a look at the blue book value for the vehicle. The internet makes it easy to find the suggested price when buying retail or from an individual. You need to be very objective when rating a car.

A relatively new service called carfax can give you the repair history of a vehicle. Make sure that you copy down the VIN number of the vehicle yourself and that you order your own copy of the report. It is not unheard of for the seller to provide a carfax report that has been doctored to show now problems with a vehicle that has had to have major repairs. These documents can prevent you from buying someone else’s lemon.

You can often save quite a tidy sum of money if you purchase a used cars , but you must do your homework before the purchase in order to be sure that you are getting the best available deal. Make sure that you are purchasing a vehicle known for longevity such as used Hondas or similar brands.

Formula Honda offers both new and used Hondas in Toronto and and the GTA – with a huge variety of used cars Toronto , trucks, SUV’s and vans.

Automatic Crash Notification Is On The Phone!

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

When you get in a car accident, technology is your best friend. Your seatbelt secures you, your airbags deploy automatically, you call an ambulance or a tow truck on your cell phone, and so on. The protective role of technology just grew some more, as an automatic crash notification phone app called My911 can now eliminate a few more steps from the crash back to security. While your airbags are deploying, your phone will already be making the call that may save your life.

The technology to automatically detect a car crash has existed for years. It has been applied with the invention of airbags- an accelerometer detects crash-level G-forces and deploys the airbags faster than you can be launched forward, meeting you halfway to the dashboard with a cushion of air. Smartphones now come equipped with the technology that allows your car to know when to deploy the airbags. It is an accelerometer, and your phone currently uses it to track your GPS location, autofocus the camera, and other functions. New patented technology makes use of this to sense a car crash and begin taking the steps to safety automatically. \

Since your phone can now sense a car crash, the next logical step is for it to do what you would do anyway, only faster, more precisely, and automatically. Because smartphones also come equipped with GPS, they can not only sense the crash, but explain where you are and how to get there faster than any human, conscious or not.

But what if your phone’s mistaken? When a crash is detected, you have the opportunity to cancel the call manually. In addition, your call alerts an operator who attempts to contact you before calling 911 to report your crash. The procedure is simple and brings peace of mind to a new level in a world where car crashes kill and injure so many on a daily basis. It is easy to see how this patent can change the way that emergency response works, making life saving more immediate, secure, and efficient when it matters most. As the versatility of phones increases, peace of mind is certainly one of the positive consequences.

Get caught up on the new automatic collision response wave. Hear all about why the My-911 smartphone app is unrivaled in keeping you safe.

Chevrolet Silverado, what a Great Vehicle! Info and 2010 Model

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

The new Silverado (redesigned GMT900 generation) earned the North American Truck of the Year award for 2007 and was Motor Trend magazine’s Truck of the Year for 2007. Like its predecessors, the new Silverado offers buyers a choice of two door regular cabs, four door extended cabs and four door crew cabs with the rear doors opening in the same direction as the front doors.

The Generation III small block V8 engines offered in the GMT 800 trucks will be replaced in the GMT 900 series by the Generation IV small block V8 engine family, featuring upgrades such as increased power and Active Fuel Management on the 5.3 L and 6.0 L V8s. A new high performance 6.2 liter V8 was introduced with the 2007 Cadillac Escalade and 2007 GMC Denali line, and is now available on the Silverado LTZ trim line. This addition now makes the Silverado/Sierra trucks the most powerful half-ton trucks available. After skipping the 2008 model year, with 2007 being the last for the GMT800 hybrid line, a two-mode hybrid model has been introduced in late 2008 as a 2009 model.

The majority of the GMT 900 trucks continue to be equipped with the four speed transmission that was found on the GMT 800 platform. A more modern 6L80 6-speed transmission is standard equipment on the GMC Sierra Denali and the similar 6L90 is standard in all Heavy Duty models. As production capacity is established, 6-speed transmissions are expected to replace 4-speed transmissions on most truck models in coming years.

There are two dash options offered in the new Silverado and Sierra. A luxury-inspired dash that closely mimics the dash in their GMT900 SUVs, and a “pickup” dash that is more upright to make way for a passenger seat in place of a center console.

Silverado LT/LTZ models underwent a subtle facelift for 2010, including LED headlamps, revised door trim, and shinier chrome on the grille; all Sierra models were left unchanged.
