A Review Of The Xperia X10 Mini Pro

The X10 Mini Pro is very much similar to its thinner brother, the X10 Mini. They both come with a Qualcomm 600mhz processor that operates on the Android OS. The original OS that comes with the Mini Pro is Android 1.6 (Donut). However, it is upgradable to the recent Android 2.1 OS (Eclair). The newer Android OS features fancy upgrades such as HTML5 web browsing and an upgraded virtual keyboard for faster typing.

The phone comes in 3 colors, Black, Red and Pink. Surprisingly, it is just a slight 2mm thicker than the X10 Mini, although it comes with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Both the phones feel similarly comfortable in our palms and pockets. You’ll most probably not notice the difference in thickness.

The additional QWERTY keyboard is very much welcomed on the X10 Mini Pro. In fact, there is much to gain and nothing to lose. This is especially true since gaps have been thoughtfully positioned between the keys to reduce typing errors. As a result of the clever initiative, the Mini Pro’s keyboard has been appraised to be one of the best in the smartphone industry.

The X10 Mini Pro interface comes with a “PlayNow” online store, a familiar Xperia gallery and Timescape for social network integration. In case you are not aware, PlayNow is Sony Ericsson’s mobile store that sells games, music and applications. Timescape serves the same purpose as the HTC’s FriendStream – It gathers updates from your friends in social networks and displays them on a timeline. Of these three, the most exciting application is AT&T U-Verse Mobile. This wonderful application allows users to download TV shows to their mobile phones through Wi-Fi. The phone runs great hardware that provides optimal performances. The most brilliant piece of equipment on the Focus is the 4-inch, Super AMOLED screen. It will accept MicroSD cards of up to 32 GB, which turns this into a 40 GB phone when combined with the 8GB that are already built into the phone. One downside is that when the memory card is removed or changed, the Focus resets the factory settings. This means that once the memory has been installed, it is quite a hassle to remove it. However, it is quite easy to synch this phone with a PC through Wi-Fi or a USB cable, which is part of the accessories.
