You will also need to see to it that you have space for all of the supplies that are used to created, mail and receive information to and from your business. Cabinets of some sort are a good idea.

Letter Opener: An electronic letter opener can get your mail open and out to where it needs to be in an expedited matter. The device makes a tedious task more efficient. This leaves room for all the other things you need to do throughout your day.

Scales: Some postal meters come standard with a scale and others do not. If you need to buy an additional scale for larger weights this may be an added expense. The standard postal scale will go up to ten to twenty pounds depending on the machine. This is a necessity and you may also need a heavy duty scale for boxes and other items.

Canadian Postal Code And Route Mapping

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Postal code and route mapping in Canada is a little different from that of the States. In fact, they are undergoing a change in the way they handle their street addresses. One example of this, is in the Burlington area. Most of this area is a part of Rural Route #2 Milton, and Rural Route #6 Milton, and then still Rural Route #3 Campbellville for their mail delivery.

But, while this is true, these areas all still have an address that is a Burlington street address. This fact has caused many to suffer having their mail incorrectly reflect them living in the wrong location. It has made delivery very difficult and confusing. It has also been the cause of loss of access to emergency services. So they decided to change the postal identifier to Burlington so the rural areas will get the same type of mail delivery as everyone else in Burlington.

They began the process of fixing this problem in 2005. Local counselors and Parliament members met with people from the Canada Post and work on a solution to this confusing problem. They had to create brand new postal codes for the rural areas within the Burlington system. Their proposal for their solution did not get approved until 2009.

The postal codes in Canada are managed by the CPC, or the Canada Post Corporation. They provide a link between the codes and their standard Canadian geographic locations to make it easier to use the data. The associations between the standard geographic areas are used for mapping, data retrieval, analysis, or profiling.

The search for solutions to the Canadian postal code problems, led to the development of geocoding. This is a process, that assigns geographic identifiers, or codes, to data records and map features. This allows for data to be linked directly to geography. The intent for postal codes, originally, was to help sort mail quickly and easily, and make delivery more efficient through address verficiation software.

Within the postal code, are indicators for where the delivery is to be made. This could be to a residential mail box, a super box, or a post office box. Also within the code, are the CPC processing facilities and the delivery installations. The first three code characters indicate the FSA, or forward sortation area. This represents a specific area that lies within a larger geographic region.

You can find maps available from the CPC that will show the organizational area that is represented by an FSA. Letter carrier walk maps, or LCWs, usually found on the internet concerning urban deliveries, provide FSA boundaries in relation to road networks. They can be much more helpful than FSA maps for determining FSA boundaries.

Postal code and route mapping in Canada has undergone a lot of change as they try to improve the efficiency of the whole process. It can really get confusing, and it is very hard to understand without some careful study. Postal codes by themselves are not good enough to get an exact location for the service area of the postal code. But the general area can be located by using the FSA.

Types And Kinds Of Mailroom Equipment

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

For a large corporation or business that has an extensive mail handling room, there might come a time when mailroom equipment may be needed in order to improve the efficiency of the room and its operation. There are many different kinds of equipment designed to handle mail and prices can vary greatly among equipment and the complexity of the mail operation in terms of workload processed.

For the most part, this kind of equipment will generally fall into two major categories and most efficient handling rooms will have a few pieces from both categories. The first such category consists of machines that handle incoming mail. A machine for processing and inspecting received parcels and letters, such as an automated letter opener, is the most common piece of equipment in this category.

More involved and complex mail handling operations that may deal with packages that might have dangerous content within them might also have mail scanning machines. These particular types of equipment generally make use of certain kinds of high definition screens to to search for, scan and detect and then display the contents of just about any letter or parcel.

As far as the kinds of mail receiving equipment that may be needed in an operation, two factors usually are considered; the volume of the mail that comes into the room and how strong the security precautions when it comes to the actual mail might need to be. Normally, mail that arrives into the room is usually processed through an automated letter opener. Sometimes, it’s also scanned.

The other category of equipment involves mail sending machines. They allow a mail operation to be automated to a great extent. They generally consist of equipment such as labeling machines, envelope sealers and processors and what are called “tabbers.” These machines seal documents by applying a small adhesive tab to items that are self-contained and do not require envelopes.

Prices for many of these machines can run into the thousands of dollars. For example, an envelope sealer and processor can cost upwards of $5000. This is a good reason why automated mail handling rooms are usually only seen in very large corporations or businesses. But they can work well in automating such operations and reducing the need for scarce human resources, which also lowers labor costs.

As far as mailroom equipment, it’s normally the case that such equipment will usually be seen in large businesses and corporations with heavy mail volumes both coming in and going out and that also need to reduce labor costs. It may be that such human resources as once worked in the mail operation can be tasked elsewhere or can be reduced or eliminated entirely, leading to labor savings.

Purchasing the correct Mailroom Equipment is a must for a quickly ran department. To locate the different Mailroom Design ideas will help in a better setup. Get all the information you need online now!

How To seek A Pen Pal

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

I know my first pen friend from an organization called International Pen Friends. This organization preserve the tradition of letter writing. Nowadays, I rarely meet new pen pals in this way but through internet. Notwithstanding the tendency of meeting new friends through internet, I do suggest that International Pen Friends is a good platform for people who have no experience to write or receive snail mail letters.

I remember that I looked forward everyday to receiving my pen pals’ letter. Sometimes they sent me little gifts. I had a pen pal from Norway, he loves reading a lot. Once he shared with me a story about a man who was the last survivor from a slaughter in the tribe. That was great.

I find that interesting to have pen pals from exotic areas like Pitairn Island, I believe many people would echo with me. As the most recent inhabitants there are the descendants of the HMAV Bounty, I am fascinated by the history and culture of the there.

The best way to communicate is by writing letters, at least for me. However, technology develops, people now seldom write letters, we choose to use email. Personally I like chatting with people on the Yahoo! Groups. That’s so marvelous that I have had a chance to chat with a boy from Pitcairn!

Every once in a while, I meet some online pen pals who are living on Pitcairn Island. But, they do not show up very often as they are busy with their housework and marking handicrafts.

Yahoo! serves as a good platform for me to discuss Pitcairn history and culture with my pen pals. My pen pals and I have developed a strong bonding with each other despite the fact that I do not write to them very often. We share our thoughts on discussion board and we also write mails. Yahoo! group is good place for you to look for someone who share the same interest with you.

You can also try Interpals, a website that helps people get online pen pals. It is free. Three years ago I got a Japanese pen pal through the site. It does help a lot and you should try.

Facebook and MySpace are good choices too. Some people use blocks on Facebook and MySpace, this actually hinders the broadening of their social circle. As long as we are careful when accepting friend requests, we could still enjoy making new friends through these sites.

If you would like to promote and get more information on Pen Pal, you may find some excitement on silverlight animation as well as silverlight sample
