Many people use of chroma keying in green screen process for many different reasons. It has its place in image placement in photography and when films are edited to put characters, objects and scenes where they would not be. To show you how this is done I have included examples in this article to give you a better understanding.
Chroma keying is not the only name that this kind of programming is known by. It is also known as colour keying for a very good reason. This is that you put two screens together, the one being the green screen, and then to the screen you can add pictures or people to the front or back of the frame or picture.
An example of this is where people use a green or in some cases a blue screen on weather reports so that a person can stand in front and point to the relevant images without looking out of place. It is also used in films where both people and animation are to be present at the same time.
With this process you are able to put a person into space, under the ocean or on a beach in the middle of the Antarctic by replacing the blue screen with an image of choice.
To make the programming both understandable to those who are applying the pictures or frames as well as the computer. The way this is done is through certain codes. There is a code for each pixel and these can be represented by letters, by numbers or maybe all of them. There are also different codes used for referring to the green screen or whether you are referring to the image in front or behind
Different references are used by different programmes which is why I could only give an example. You can alter the references with some programmes and of course if you know what you are doing. To alter the images you should be aware that it is only with these designated codes that changes can be made. This is made easier with certain programmes.
With digital technology being so predominant in today’s world the green screen works a lot better than the blue one that was mainly used before digital images were invented and become so popular. You can see how the green screen has its place in today’s world, whether it is for films, television, photography or computer games. If the person or image in front or behind the green screen has to wear the same colour it is better to use a red or blue screen instead.
